THUYLARS
Award-winning illustrator, proud latina woman, historian and researcher at her core. With a Master's in History and a degree in Social Communication, her research encompasses art history, representational violence, body, gender, sexuality and beyond. This is also reflected within her vibrant creations. For THUYLARS, art is both self-expression and empowerment—a conduit to self-love and activism. Passionate and purposeful, she likes to draw sassy characters with bold colours living their best lives, whilst also recognising the profound impact of imagery in contemporary culture. In 2022, she was the winner of the physical category at the Third Illustration Biennial organised by Pictoline, with the work entitled "Tomar Cuerpo". THUYLARS has participated in exhibitions at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City and at the MAIA Contemporary Art Gallery.
